I have an NT 4.0 server [thru SP6a] running at a client
together with Exchange Server 5.5. I put two NIC's in the
server in case I wanted to segment the server at some
point and am currently only using one. The client
purchased a copier/printer [Konica] that has been on the
network working great for months.
A couple of things have happened in the last 10 days that
have baffled me.
First the server no longer recognizes the Copier IP
address as I cannot ping the copier/printer from the
server. I can; however, ping the copier/printer from any
workstation on the network. I have checked all the IP
addresses and subnet masks on the network to ensure that
there are no problems there.
I have stopped the print spooler as well as the TCP/IP
Printer services on the server and rebooted the server and
still no recognition of the IP address for the
copier/printer.
The other thing that has happened is that when the server
is rebooted and it is on the network wire it comes up with
an error that the computer name is already being used on
the network and The Exchange server doesn't come up. I
checked all the PC's connected and the server is the only
computer with the "duplicate" name. If I remove the wire
form the server and reboot it then it comes up fine and
there is no duplicate name. I attach it to the network
after it has rebooted and it seems to work fine. Still no
printing but at least the Exchange server is working.
Any ideas???
Thanks
