Re: pop3 connector event id 7023

Hi all,

I am rather late at getting back to this subject due to illness, but now
I'm back at the office, and wanted to solve this problem.
Just a recap of what the problem was, the server is an SBS 2003, we use
a pop3 connector to receive some mail, that was working fine, till one
day it stopped working, after attempting to to see what the problem was,
I tried clicking on "Open pop3 connector manager" and I saw the manager
appear from a brief second and disappear, so I went to the services, and
saw that the Microsoft for pop3 connector service wasn't running, so I
tried starting it, and received a message saying that the connector
started and then stopped because it had nothing to do, in the even logs
I saw an event id 7023 saying "The Microsoft Connector for POP3
Mailboxes service terminated with the following error:
The handle is invalid."
After following a suggesting made by Henry Craven to reinstall the pop3
connector I did following the instructions on this link, that Henry gave
me
http://groups-beta.google.com/group/...2coff=1&rnum=1
I did so, but didn't get a chance to follow it up, do to my illness at
the time, but that didn't solve the problem, it's still the same, and I
was hoping I could get some more help on the matter.

I would also like to thank the people that responded very promptly to me
the last time I asked this question, and offered suggestions.

cheers
R.A.

Hi R.A.
Glad to ear your better and back on top.

While your issue has popped ;-) up occasionally no one seems to have
bothered to post back that Suggestion x or y worked for them ( or not )

Although apparently not directly related, this Fix has been mentioned in
relation to your issue and may well be worth a try:
Scheduled POP3 connector e-mail message downloads may not occur on your
Windows Small Business Server 2003-based computer
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;833992

I'm also curious if you're running any AV/Anti-SPAM software or if your
running the POP3 Service itself and what effect stopping those services
may have.

running on the server is Vet AV.

I will try stopping vet tonight and restarting, and get back to you
regarding that.

Ok well I uninstalled Vet AV and restarted the server but the resault
was still the same.
I will follow the original answer from this point and reinstall the pop3
connecter, and i'll get back to you tomorrow about it.

cheers
