- SP 1 killed my backup times
- Posted by Joe Aas on December 6th, 2005
I have a dual Xeon server running SBS 2003. I have one four disk RAID array
for both system and data partitions. I have Veritas BackupExec 9.1 build
4691. A few weeks ago I installed the SBS SP 1. Up to that day I was
backing up 50gb in about 10 hours. Since that day my backup runs at 2mb per
minute and gets less than 1.5 gb backed up in 12 hours. I have an external
Certance DAT4 autoloader tape drive on an Adaptec 29320 SCSI controller.
There is nothing else connected to this controller. To troubleshoot, I have
completely shut down the server and checked all cable connections, I have
updated to sp4 for Veritas, I have updated the tape drive drivers with the
latest Veritas drivers, I have updated the Norton Corporate anti-virus to
version 10, and then I disabled the anti-virus checking in the background.
I have updated the Adaptec drivers, but I haven't updated the firmware for
the SCSI card.
Anyone with ideas on this?

can't suggest anything but your question will hit a larger audience in the
SBS2003 group.
SBS public Newsgroups:
SBS 4.x: microsoft.public.backoffice.smallbiz
SBS 2000: microsoft.public.backoffice.smallbiz2000
SBS 2003: microsoft.public.windows.server.sbs
if your current news server does not carry the mentioned groups you should
be able to connect directly to news.microsoft.com

Thanks, I will post it over there. I didn't realize the differences between
the groups.
