I think I remember that the last time I tried to dl the latest Flash, it
came bundled with a bunch of crap I didn't want, with no way to shut that
off.
I'd like to use Google's street-level app, but it requires Flash 9. Is
there a substitute? Or am I perhaps misremembering the bundling?

The only thing which I recall comes with Flash from the Macromedia
website is a Yahoo toolbar but you can decline it before installation
by unticking the box.
