Clipboard Extender; text-saver
Posted by Richard Steinfeld on July 7th, 2008

I need to be able to snatch text from a web page and almost instantly be
able to save it as a text file.

I tried to find by searching this NG for "clipbook" and "clipboard," but
everything I found consisted of flame warring.

I'd appreciate a few good answers. Will the gladiators simply go
someplace else and attack each other out of sound, and out of sight.

Thanks.

Richard

This is excellent for IE5 and higher. I'm sure there's a Firefox
equivalent, but others will have to help there.

Thanks, guys.

Interesting stuff!
But what I need to be able to do is to be able to save to an ASCII text
file of my choosing. So far, the clipboard utility programs I've tried
won't do this. Ready for me to uninstall now are Paste & Save and Clip
Guru (v1 -- maybe v2 will do it, but I doubt it). These programs create
their own sort of save files in their own place. I want to be able to
dump my text where I want it to go.

Let's say that I go to a freeware site. I want to copy the coder's
description of his program. I download all freeware that I'm interested
into a download directory; I have a few of these directories. Each one
has subdirectories that are named for the program, as well as a short
description. Within this subdirectory -- that's where I want to stash
the description that I clipped off the program site.

The only program that I found so far that'll do this is Flashnote. At
least, I think that it will. It seems to be a nice small program. Its
built-in editor adheres to my "must-have" standard key sequences that
have become standard in many word programs, sequences that began with
WordStar.

I'll keep pushing the envelope.
