dual-pane standalone file manager needed
Posted by badgolferman on August 18th, 2004

I am looking for a Windows dual-pane file manager I can carry around on
my Jumpdrive to work on other's computers. It must be able to deal with
NTFS systems and not write to the user's registry. I thought 2xExplorer
would work, but it writes to the registry. Any candidates?

(www.altap.cz) is the tool you need. The free version 1.53 I think
should do what you want.

Since I use version 2.0 for my daily needs I have downloaded 1.52 to try out
tomorrow. If not I have a backup now. It looks like Pablo Commander may do
the trick also.

Hi,

This is the best one I know of, it has an internal ftp as well:

If you dont like this, the only other "clean" one I can think of is A43

I know I've been in front of the square tube too long today. Darned if I can
find the "dual pane" option in A43. Can anyone enlighten me ? Thanks a lot

There is still this one too:
Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 SP6a File Manager

it still works on XP also, and supports FAT32/NTFS, Long File Names
(LFNs), NTFS compressed folders/files, network/remote
drives/partitions, hidden/read-only/system folders/files, dual pane
windows, drag and drop etc, highly customizable [436 KB]. (a.k.a.
Winfile.exe)
its here:
