Free aquarium screensaver?

Does anyone know where I can get the 3D aquarium screensaver(s) from
Windows XP (preferably as freeware)?

I've looked over a bunch of aquarium savers & all are somewhere between
crap & so-so. Sorry, but the real good ones you will have to pay for. Best
I've found is http://www.allume.com/win/aquazone.html. Good luck

Gimpy, this group is supposed to be for the discussion of freeware.
Please don't recommend commercial software here. If you can't recommend
a freeware solution, it's best to simply say nothing. This is because
somebody else will usually come up with a good freeware solution to a need.

I know that you are only trying to help the OP, but what if everybody
started recommending commercial software in this group? It's kind of
like littering... "What if everybody did it?"

It wouldn't take very long before people stopped coming to this group
because it would have lost its effectiveness.

Hey, I could easily recommend commercial software programs for every
need that's posted to this group, but I don't do it because the name of
this group is:

alt.comp.freeware

not:

I don't reply to trolls like Andy Mabbett, Doc (who uses sock puppets)
or Roger Johansson, for instance. No adware, cdware, commercial
software, crippleware, demoware, nagware, PROmotionware, shareware,
spyware, time-limited software, trialware, viruses or warez for me, please.

Are you referring to the screen saver that comes with "Plus! SuperPack":

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/plus/screensavers.asp

Microsoft bought that from Sachs Marine Aquarium. That screen saver is
commercial software and never was freeware. This group isn't for the
discussion of warez and pirating software, so I won't be giving you any
advice for stealing that program.

However, if you weren't referring to that particular screen saver, your
best bet is what Won Dampchin recommends:

<<SNIP OLD WOMAN COMMENTS FROM JOHN>>

Talk about create an essay of waffle when a few would have done!
If you don't like what someone says, then ignore it. Everybody else does.
Does it matter? The OP can either take the advise or not.
I admit that a screen saver probably isn't the time to recomend payware, but
there are some instances where it is. I'm thinking saving a system in some
way where you don't have time to experiment and play in the hope it works.
But your response didn't need all that waffle. Try buying the book, how to
win friends and make enemies )
Bet you live alone....

I never asked for any advice on stealing programs John. No need to take
a stand about legal issues that do not exist. I'm just looking for
freeware screensavers that look like the aquariums in XP.

Thank you. I tried that one and I'm still trying to get it to work on
my machine. I think my video card may be the problem now.

Has anyone looked at these? The "Reef of Enchantment" is free. Comments?

In this group, alt.comp.freeware, there is *never* an instance where
recommending payware is called for. The most fundamental guideline for
usenet is staying on topic. This group is for the discussion of
freeware, not commercial software. Recommending payware here is as off
topic as it gets.

Again, http://www.timfanelli.com/images/no_idea.jpg

Well, that's certainly a fine example of a way to make a friend out of *me*.

They look good, but because screen savers are historically a source of
spyware infection (not personal experience, mind you), I, at least, am
loath to give it a try. Maybe if it was listed at a reputable freeware
website, I'd give it a spin. Do you know of any such listings? I Googled
it, but could find none.

I'm sure I misunderstood you, but the only aquarium screensaver "from
Windows XP" that I'm aware of is the one that's included in the Plus pack.

And to clarify that I wasn't sure I understood you, I added:

I just posted fishsaver2.zip on alt.binaries.freeware. This is the
Marimosoft Fish Saver that I run on my computer. Give it a try, I think
you'll like it.

I couldn't either, and after doing the Freeze.com merry-go-round, I don't
want to test-drive anything that might be doubtful. I was hoping someone in
here had had experience with it.

The reason you have no idea is because you seem very tunnel visioned John. I
can't see the point of jumping down peoples throats because they (maybe
niavely) mention payware. They have not been rude, abusive or used foul
language. Freeware can only take you so far and do a fair job doing so, but
there are often times when there isn't an instant fix with freeware. It's
almost impossible to run a reliable system on freeware alone anyway. I agree
that a screensaver probably wasn't the right time to mention payware, but I
disagree that you needed to lecture him pubicly. I just don't see the point
of arguing over trivial matters.
