MICROSOFT RELEASES METADATA REMOVAL TOOL

(ThePrivacyManager.com) With little fanfare, Microsoft has released a
tool to scrub leaky metadata from documents edited with its software.

With the 'Remove Hidden Data' Office XP/2003 Add-In, Microsoft promises
"you can permanently remove hidden data and collaboration data, such as
change tracking and comments, from Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and
Microsoft PowerPoint files."

Microsoft software products place hidden metadata in the documents. The
data includes change history, undo information, internal routing
information and so on. Several high profile and embarrassing cases have
emerged where the Microsoft documents of public officials revealed who
had collaborated in the preparation of reports and speeches.

The utility is available here:

What I need is something like this that will work for earlier versions,
2000 specifically.

It should not be an MS Office addin though but must be able to process
many folders/files at a run.

Any info appreciated. Thanks.
