Is thier anything in the freeware realm that will allow me to
remix/remaster mp3's
So I can enhance bass, vocals, etc redo remaster it for my personal
use. that will work with some freeware mp3 ripper/burner

Try Audacity. It's a general-purpose audio editor.
I've used it to do audio editing for my band.
