http://kkfileextractor.sourceforge.net/ - tool for recovering data off
disks (accidently deleted files and off failing disks). It first
creates an image of the disk.

It seems to me I heard somewhere that socrtwo wrote in article

I downloaded and installed the Windows self-install version and set it
up. I like the looks of the GUI, but on a quick tryout I never got
anything like the screen images; for instance, I haven't found a way to
select file types as I expected to be able to do based on the Web
information. Also, unexpectedly, a DOS box (I think that's what it
was) popped up two or three times, with no explanation or information.

I'll definitely come back to try some more because it does look
promising and pretty, but for now it's on hold until I have enough time
to dig into it.

I apologize, someone else in this group found this freeware (although
I can't find the post) and it seems like I'm claiming credit for it.
I thought I was posting to the Data Recovery Freeware Google Group but
confused which group I was in :-(.
