NewsProxy ... a possible new release :-)
Posted by hummingbird on July 5th, 2008

In the current thread:
"Subject: NewsProxy crashes when retrieving some articles"

....on <alt.usenet.offline-reader.forte-agent.modified>, Bill, the
author of NewsProxy v1.24 has invited people to put forward their
requests for changes/feature/additions for a possible new release
of NewsProxy.

Now's the chance for some constructive input if you want to help
Bill make the program even better.

Please go to that group to add any ideas or suggestions you have
because that's where Bill hangs out.

His decision is good for users and good for freeware IMHO.

The reason I suggest folks trot over to <a.u.o-r.f-a.m> to make
their suggestions is because the last time Bill was on ACF he got
savaged and it took Gary Schmidt to prove that his code was not
malware.

[about NewsProxy]
He didn't prove that. He compiled it from source and found that
that binary matched the one that's being distributed. He specifically
noted that he had *not* examined the source to look for signs of
malware.

AFAIK no one's proved anything one way or another about the allegations
that the coder is malicious.

I wasn't commenting about that, just correcting hummingbird's
misstatement.
