Like the world needs yet another "notepad replacement" but......
This one showed up on Lockergnome last week and I downloaded it just
to check it out. It looks like it's been around a while, but I only
found one ACF post since 1/1/06 that mentioned it in passing with a
list of other editors, and it's not on the ACF program index, so I
figured I'd mention it.
Notepad SX is a tabbed text editor with most features you'd expect,
but it has some different ones like full screen mode, visual styles,
and a few unusual text manipulation options. Full feature list and
download link here:

Personally, I use Metapad as my default notrpad replacement, and Note
Tab Light when I need to manipulate text but don't need a full blown
word processor. Everyone has their own favorites and, for some users,
their choices almost amount to a religious fervor <g>. Having said
that, I think this one is worth a look just for variety sake.
It comes with an installer, but it works just fine if you unpack it
with Universal Extractor. Program settings are saved in a .ini file
in the program directory, so it should be portable AFAICT. There's no
real help file, but the menus are pretty straightforward and besides,
who uses help files anyway? <VBG>
