PIM Xtreme 0.6 released !!
Wednesday, 02 July 2008
At last!! This new version of PIM Xtreme comes with the most requested
feature: Alerts!
http://www.dgtalize.com/products/pimx
PIM Xtreme is a free Open Source application for management of personal
information (PIM: Personal Information Manager) configurable and highly
flexible (or at least that is the goal). It aims to be a powerful
organizer for your personal data.
All this information is stored in a relational database (MySQL for the
moment) to be able to be accessed and consulted in a flexible way. It also
allows exporting most of its data to some standard formats (like CSV, XML,
iCalendar, etc.).
It counts with different aspects or modules in addition to the own
functionalities of the system. They are, by now:
Agenda
Contacts
Notes / annotations (with encryption)
Tasks / to-do
Events
Calendar
Finance
Accounts
Movements (means financial movements)
Reports
<General>
Alerts
Labels
Export Calendar"

Unless I read it incorrectly, you net .NET framework, and mysql, in
order for it to run. It looks interesting, but maybe more PIM than most
people need.

Maybe. Most Freeware is much lighter...software such as this is usually
sold. It may be more than you need. I think it is more than I need as I am
more into portable apps. But others can speak for themselves can't they.

PIM was always pretty good, especially since earlier versions
did not need .NET. So, for those who don't mind adding tons of
extra fileage to your computer, new PIM awaits you.

Considering I already have .NET...it is no issue to me at all. I'm
certainly not limited in any way.

I'm actually using PIM Xtreme and it's pretty good... and

I already have .Net Framework (as most people using WinXP) so that
wasn't an issue. About MySQL, well.. you hardly know it's there so...
I found PIM Xtreme a good soft to try.
