- Print booklet from 1 piece of paper
- Posted by ©® on February 1st, 2007
I would like to use an A3 piece of paper and print a little booklet
(both sides of paper) so that when you fold/cut the paper, your booklet
will be made. Having a choice of the page size (e.g. A6) outcome would
be helpful.
Reason being, I need to print a booklet and don't want to be cutting and
stapling pages. Printing it with the pages correctly laid out is what I
need.
Is there anyway to accomplish this? Thanks

OpenOffice.org will do this in the Writer module.

Is there anything smaller so I don't have to download a big app (93MB)?

It's worth the download -- in effect a free version of MS Office!
Other than that, google for "booklet maker", or "impositioning freeware"

If you're using any full-fledged word processor you might want to check
the help file and look at the printing options. ISTM this is a fairly
standard option that's often fairly well hidden. . .

Thanks for mentioning yWriter. I'd like to mention that my freeware
ebook reader (yBook) also has a printing mode which will print booklets
with page layout. If the original poster wants to take a text file and
print it, then yBook should do the job. (I use it to print my 300+ page
novels, which are then professionally bound & cropped)

I agree. I've used both. Microsoft has made their stuff "touchier" and
"feelier." However, the programs have differences. For example, Open
Office's writing mode has some of the text formatting menus that I'm
used to working with in FrameMaker. And OO has good image abilities,
which MO simply doesn't offer. OO is huge (as is MO). But OO is very
good software, very capable. I think that it's an embarrassment to
Microsoft, frankly. And I wouldn't be surprised to find that OO is
actually more stable than the MS product.
Here's another angle: Microsoft's new operating system presents a major
insult to user security, self-maintenance, and privacy. In effect,
Microsoft now owns your computer. If I "upgrade" to Vista at all, it
will only be to maintain compatibility with clients, and it will be
limited to only one machine. Otherwise, I'm feeling a very strong urge
to abandon ship for Linux.

Wish I could help you there. Only other thing I was able to find was
something that requires you to have MS Word installed (and when I look
today, I'm unable to find it again!)
Check out Susan Bugher's suggestion though. I think she's got some good
advice for you.

Hey there,
Sorry this is a bit old, but I get behind in newsgroups, and I figured
this still might help out.

Maybe this will help. It has an online and an offline (Windows or Mac)
version, and offers a PDF to PocketMod converter, but apparently only
for people who have Microsoft .Net. And for the record, it's
Donationware:
The PocketMod
Home Page: http://pocketmod.com/
<quotes from the page>
The PocketMod is a new way to keep yourself organized. Lets face it,
PDAs are too expensive and cumbersome, and organizers are bulky and
hard to carry around. Nothing beats a folded up piece of paper. That
is until now. With the PocketMod, you can carry around the days notes,
keep them organized in any way you wish, then easily transfer the
notes to your PDA, spreadsheet, or planner.
The PocketMod is a small book with guides on each page. These guides
or templates, combined with a unique folding style, enable a normal
piece of paper to become the ultimate note card. It is hard to
describe just how incredibly useful the PocketMod is. It's best that
you just dive in and create one.
