Create a new file and record silence for as long as the file will last. Save
it under any name you like. Copy it and save it under a different name. Now
just append each file to the other as many times as you need to. You can end
up with a file as long as you want.
Now when you want to record something that wont fit on a "normal" Sound
Recorder file, open your long file and record over it. (Don't forget to give
it a new name when you save!)

Windows Sound Recorder is mediocre in any case. With a noisy soundcard
it will allow a lot of background static during recordings that won't
exist on a more capable and unlimited sound recorder such as Audacity.
