Repost: WTD: Program launcher for W95

Only response first time was an install that I couldn't download to look at anyway.

Recommendation for a program launcher for W95, it needs to be easy to work with,
10 programs to run at most. My wife is not a computer person, and the computer is
a slow 486/50, so I want a pretty basic executable if possible. No shell
extensions, please.

I found this, haven't yet run it in W95:
Program Launcher www.programming.de
It can start 5 groups of programs with up to 5 programs in each group, either
manually or timer controlled. You can start *.exe files or document files, for
which the standard program is started then. You can also specify arguments for the
programs to start with. Choose from 50 icons to assign with your groups. Program
can be iconized to the system tray.

Any suggestions for other ones?

Hi Mike.
Give this one a look:
http://www.kissysoftware.com/asp/multiapp.asp
Multiapp Version 2 opens up to 60 programs (up to 6 programs on each
button). Multiapp helps keep your Desk Top cleaned up. Put Multiapp as a
link on the left side of the Task Bar so it is handy with the applications
you want to open in a hurry. The Multiapp exe file is 1.03 MB, the zip file
is only 669 KB so it downloads fast. Multiapp is FREEWARE not SHAREWARE. You
can make the color of Multiapp any color you want. Multiapp has a Sleep
feature that puts a program to sleep until you tell it when to wake-up.
Multiapp opens exe, com, bat, html, lnk, URL's, Mailto:, avi, wav, mp3, doc,
tex files and more. Multiapp is Drag & Drop, just drag a program or file
onto a button and drop it to setup the button. Multiapp has a lot of
features built into it. You can rename Multiapp and run as many applications
of it you want, each application can have different programs on the buttons.
And you can set it up so all the Multiapp's open at the same time. Multiapp
should work fine in Windows 95/98/2000/XP.

Many other apps including more program launchers at:
http://www.kissysoftware.com/asp/downloads.asp
(not especially pretty, but highly functional)
hth. regards,

Thanks, Dud, it sounds familiar to me, too. D/L, it's an install so I will try the
other one first.

icon. I click on the button, the program runs. I close the program, but Multiapp
then vanishes. I'm used to a launcher that works from an icon in the system tray,
is this supposed to be a shortcut in the system tray?

Have you used this?

Sorry Mike, you're correct. The one I suggested closes after opening an
app.
I used the one below that, "Smultiapp" which is basically the same but when
you run a program it hides itself on the left side of the screen. Move the
mouse to the left side and the bar pops out again.
Sorry for the bad steer.

Sorry, I don't like those apps. Smultiapp loads a program same way, when I close
the program, Smultiapp resides in the system tray. When I then click on it,
nothing. Maybe it's just on my PC, but both of them have problems. I like programs
that work reliably.

If you have any magic on this one, I'd like to hear it.

Thanks for the info, Dud. I installed in W95, it sure looks familiar like I may
have run it way back than. Anyway, it gave me fits trying to load shortcuts into
it. I tried 3 or 4 ways to enter programs, then got serious error messages that
nearly crashed the OS. Either it does not like my machine, or W95, but any way, I
uninstalled. At this point, no good program launcher for that W95.

BTW- this old post:

cleanall.bat doesn't clear the icon cache (speed reboot) nor use smart
drive (allocate memory to make clean up quicker.

Any further thoughts, still use Langa's files in W98?
