Request for information on freeware replacements for realplayer and quicktime
Posted by John2005 on December 6th, 2005

Hello everyone,

Are there any decent freeware replacements for the free Realplayer and
Quicktime players ? I don't like all the extra junk and startup entries
that these programs add to the computer, like the "quicktime task"
etc.. I remove this program from startup and it just keeps coming
back, I'm tired of fooling with it.

If one program can play both formats, then great, but if it takes two
separate programs that's fine with me as long as the programs don't
install unnecessary garbage and startup programs.

Thanks
John

Hi Eric,

I did not know that this codec pac could play quicktime and realplayer
files without those players being already installed on your computer,
but I see that the player / codecs are updated and it now plays those
files without any need for the official realplayer or quicktime to be
installed on your machine.

Thanks !

John
