I am having problems finding a freeware U3 USB Encryption utility. All
I have found are trialware version with crippled capabilities. Thanks
in advance.

SanDisk provide CruzerLock which is decent. It does nag you to upgrade,
but works well enough.
Your U3 didn't come with it?

My recommendation is to uninstall the U3 on your disk and a whole better
world opens up to you...pure USB portable programs galore. You can still
us Cruzerlock on SanDisk sticks, but others are also available like
Cryptainer, or True Crypt.

U3 encryption is hardware based, isn't it?. What is it exactly you're
looking to do, and what's an example of the software you have found?
In any case, U3 is known buggy stuff. Only works on about half the
machines it's suppose to work on, and only a fraction of the software
it's suppose to work with. There's even some strong evidence that it
fails to encrypt data a certain percentage of the time. Plus, if the
file system borks up you throw the thing away because it can't be
formatted without special software nobody seems to have.
I wouldn't waste time messing with it. Save yourself the anguish and
look for portable version of your favorite software, or something
comparable, then secure the device itself with Truecrypt.
