http://www.freewarefiles.com/

Search 'youtube'

There are several programs that do it.

This works well for me. Be aware that you have to rename the download
with an .flv extension. It also has the facility to put a button in
your toolbar for downloading.

In article <12us10m3visep66@corp.supernews.com>,
maurice_daphne@internode.on.net says...
Ook? Video Ook! is a Firefox extension (from release 1.5) which gives
you the capability of downloading easily and quickly embedded videos
from several web sites such as YouTube, Google Video, Smithappens and
other (soon there will be a detailed list of supported systems [I'm
actually working on the support architecture]).

You can find it at http://ook.dedos.net/

hi

You might do better getting Clip Downloader version 3, it's not free
but... It will download with just 1-click, you can use it to transcode
the video to a number formats plus, you can watch the flash video
right in the application. A download manager is included to make
organising and finding you downloads easy. You can download from any
site like this not just YouTube.

the http:// etc URL.
Edit it
to...http://www.kissyoutube.com/watch?v=V...elated&search=.
Notice `kiss`.
This will take you to the page, where you can d/load what
you want.
It will be a .flv file, but you can convert it to what you want.

This is where online services shine and help to the point where you do not
need to load your machine up with a lot of software just to convert
files. Many of the online conversion sites do a better job with these
conversions than the software on ones machine can do.

I for one am not ready to discount online services as on topic here.

Since Maurice is using firefox, I've had good luck with the firefox plugin
DownloadHelper. I don't have the ref off the top of my head, but it's
available at the Firefox site. It works with many other sites and video
formats as well. No bells and whistles, though, just downloading.

To play the .flv (FLash Video) files you get from YouTube, if you prefer not
to use Flash, flvplayer seems to work well.

My favorite ATM is "Youtube Grabber". It's a tiny (184K!) no install,
1 file executable. Simply paste the movie's Youtube URL into Youtube
Grabber and click the "Grab" button. It's very hard to beat.

Also, for Maxthon users, there is at least 1 nice plugin for grabbing
movies.
