- Anyway to stop CD-RW and DVD-RW writing read only

Is there a way to permanently set a DVD-R and CD-R to not write in the read
only format, or do I have to set it every time? Can it be set prior to
writing the disc?
Thanks

You give not enough info. But I think this is a software isssue

Yes, all of this depends on the software. I you are using the Windows
XP burning wizard, I dont think that it can burn multisession anyway.
If you are using Nero, right before the CD is burned on the options
page (where it asks you to set speed, name, drive etc.), there will be
a checkbox that lets you writ multi-session. If you uncheck the box,
you can only burn to the CD once (is that what you mean by "read-
only"?). I dont have any experience with other software.
