Fine. You'd be mad not to.

So what is wrong with backing up onto a couple of USB
drives which you take home with you occasionally, and
swap so that even if the practice burns down etc, you
can just use the backup that you have at home ?

More than one so that there is no possibility of the practice
burning down etc while all the backups are there too.

The first thing you need to do is evaluate how much your data
is worth to you. Then select an option that matches.

The list, from best and most expensive to cheapest, goes something
like this:

- Network backup to storage server, with additional backup to tape there
- just the storage server
- Professional tape
- MOD (if you do not have too much data)
- DVD-RAM (same limitation although media are larger)
- Multiple, rotated external disk drives
- single external drive
- DVD-not-RAM
- no backup

Other options may exist, but unless you know what you need, it is
difficult to select one.
