- Devices Not Showing in Roxio 8.0
- Posted by Will on May 31st, 2006
I have a computer with an IDE DVD+R and USB 2.0 DVD+-RW. After installing
Roxio 8.0, neither device shows up within Roxio. Both devices show as
drive letters on Windows 2003, and both show in Device Manager correctly.
What would cause the devices to be invisible to Roxio 8.0?

googleing http://tinyurl.com/ptf54 indicates problems with Roxio 8 like you
are describing. I also see where 2003 server is not on Roxio's approved
list. I switched to NERO way back when Adaptec owned the product and it was
well known as aCRAPtec instead of Roxio. If the patches described in the
roxio forum do not work, you might want to switch to NERO. I suspect you
will have to get the latest version. We have a couple of 2003 servers and I
recall Nero 6.?? giving a warning message about known problems. It still
worked, but we ended up getting the latest 7.

Check what version of ASPI is installed.
Adaptec 4.71 need a registry setting to see ATAPI (IDE).
ASPI cannot access USB devices.

I never installed any ASPI drivers. Where would I find those under
Windows 2003?
