Disabling automatic spanning in ghost2003
Posted by kracheck on April 7th, 2004

Hi there,

When I back-up my C partition (NTFS on winXP)with the back-up wizard
of ghost2003 (part of Norton Systemworks) it automaticaly spans the
image. Since I save my image files on another partition I don't need
this feature. Is there a command line option I can add to make Ghost
save my image as one single file ? Or did I overlook a setting that
disables this automatic feature.

Thanks in advance

Are your image segments 2GB in size? That is a Ghost/DOS limitation. You
cannot create segments bigger than that. I do not ses this bahaviour to be a
problem, do you?

Ghost is a DOS program and is subject to DOS's 2-GB filesize limit. If your
backup image needs more than 2 GB, it'll be split. (I usually have Ghost
split the image into 1490-MB chunks, as you can fit three of those on a
DVD-R (and a boot-floppy image, to make it bootable) with not much waste.)
