- DynaMO 2300 magneto-optical drive transfer rate
- Posted by Gojko Magazinovic on October 29th, 2005
Hi,
The declared transfer rate of a Fujitsu DynaMO 2300 magneto-optical
drive is approximately 8.5 Mb/s. However, I am not able not obtain
more than some 600 to 800 kb/s (by using 2.3GB disks on Win2000 and
WinXP). Is the 800 kb/s transfer rate a real maximum of that device or
my drive needs some kind of software or hardware repair.
Thanks in advance,
Gojko Magazinovic

That is the reansfer rate from and to the cache/buffer in the drive,
not the media transfer rate. Same as with HDDs. The 800kB/sec
is the media transfer rate for the media you are using. Also keep
in mind that reads are half as fast (DOW medium) or a third as
fast (regular medium).
