Thinkpad i1300, no integral FD, bios has no knowledge of usb. Have
external usb floppy and wish to boot from it. I know it can be done
but how?

Cannot be done without BIOS support. Sorry. Bios is what
has control over the computer until the bootsector has
been loaded from the boot-device. After that the bootcode
in the bootsector can do a little more.

Are you talking about IBM's usb floppy drive for that thinkpad ?

tells you how to boot from it, so its presumably supported.
