- Are HDD Coolers Effective?

I am wondering if hard disk drive coolers such as the Vantec V13-100
with 2x60mm fans are worthwhile products
Are they effective in reducing HDD temperatures, or is there littl
value to be gained for the money

Far better to attach a decent (Panaflo / Papst) fan to the front of your
case, blowing cool air in over as many as three drives per fan.
A lot quieter, too - and it blows ambient air in, rather than
recirculate the warm air already in the case.

Some drives run much hotter than others to begin with, and it is quite
possible (probable) your disks are well within normal operating range
.... assuming you are running the PC in your house and not inside some
closet.

The simplest method is buying a well designed case with a 120mm fan up
front cooling the drives. Just put a fan speed controller on it and
you can forget about drive temp problems.
Or you can play games with your data.
