I have had a lot of problems with my Maxtor One-Touch III 300GB
external drive. It seems to be related to using USB, but I think the
one-touch software is also involved.
I bought Acronis True Image to use in place of the Restrospect
software included with the drive. My problem is that I can't get rid
of the One-Touch program. I deleted it from the Add or Remove
programs, but it still shows up in All Programs. I formatted the
drive twice, but there is still some kind of hidden partition that
maintains a number of files that I am unable to get rid of. Is there
anyway I can make this a clean hard drive without the Maxtor stuff
attached, or is the One-Touch software in the internal circuitry of
the box and not on the drive per se?
