I'm looking at purchasing a new network storage device, specifically
the Western Digital NetCenter drive. I need it to appear as a local
drive on the server so that it can be backed up properly with the
Veritas Backup Exec Agent but I would like to relieve the server of the
actual duties of writing things to disk. For this purpose I would like
it to show up as a mapped drive on the users' computers. That is
possible right? I just need verification of that before I purchase
one.

In order to be a local drive and a standalone network drive, it seems
you'd need to have it connected via USB and the network connection at
the same time. I don't know of any that will allow that, but I
haven't followed them for a while now.
