- Zip-100 slimline drive (Z100NB12.7) - need info on micro 48-way connector!
- Posted by crumpton69@googlemail.com on April 3rd, 2007
Hi.
I'd like to make use of this drive if possible - I know there were
SCSI Zip-drives, but I'm fairly sure this uses standard IDE/ATAPI
signals (was used in conjunction with Addonics PCMCIA->IDE card).
The connector is an obscure 48-way fine-pitch type! :-(
It's not a 2mm header, nor the 50-way seen on slimline CDROM drives -
definitely 2 rows of _24_ contacts. I can see "AMP" on it, a well-
known connector maker; and pitch is 0.8mm I think.
Can anyone help with the pinout and mating connector type#, please??
(A detailed datasheet on the "Z100NB12.7" drive would be nice - I
couldn't find one via Google...)
TIA and regards
- Mark Crumpton.

They made IDE with regular 40 pin connnector, and SCSI-2 with the 50 pin connector.
Which SCSI did they use, the 0.1" OC or the small external one?

Eric,
Thanks, but it's definitely not 0.1" pin header (neither 40-pin IDE
nor 50-pin SCSI)...
This version ZIP100 was probably produced in low volume for OEM use -
the connector is an AMP "micro" type: 48-way, 0.8mm-pitch as
previously explained!
Besides the Amacom "Slim ZIP" (PCMCIA->IDE), I believe it may have
been used in VST "Expansion Bay Module" ZIP-drive for PowerMacs - can
any "hardware hacker" confirm this???
- Mark.
