Simple TV Guide download problem?
Posted by PLW on March 9th, 2006

I have a Packard Bell IMEDIA MC 9094, UK-based user

I am Having trouble getting access to the Digital Freeview TV Guide for this
Media Centre. Gone though all the setup activities. Settings are selected for
"download when connected" [to the internet] and the Connection Test feedback
tells me that it's working. However when I try to reset the TV Guide, or
download it any way I get error message "download incomplete. Download Error.
Will try again later."

I am not experiencing any problems with the Media Centre connecting to the
Internet when playing music library/CDs, i.e. CD covers quickly retrieved
automatically.

TV is playing Live [Freeview TV] over 50 channels detected and Manual
recording capability is operational. I just cannot download the guide to
properly schedule recordings.

To me it looks like the location of the Guide has moved. But to where? and
is the solution really that simple!

In some situations the guide gets corrupted and the only way around it
seems to be to delete the guide directory and do the whole TV setup
again:

Close MCE, delete (or rename) the EPG directory (Documents and
Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\eHome\EPG ) and re-run
the TV setup in MCE.
