using sky digital epg : lots of channels with no info available
Posted by riccol1966 on January 30th, 2006

have posted dr watson bug to ms, but I have lots of channels on the epg
showing with no data available. I am using mce with sky digital (Ireland). I
have already deleted the epg directory and retried the guide download but
still get the same results. Any mce satellite users out there who can verify
what channels I should be picking up ?

some of the missing ones: living tv2, discovery real time extra, sky travel,
sky travel extra, uk tv style, uk tv food, travel uk, s4c, game network, you
tv, avago, ben, hallmark, sky vegas, horror channel, true movies, matinee
movies (not a complete list).

anyone have similar missing info in EPG?

Microsoft and the guide provider can't seem to get it together to provide
info for the 500 channels there are out there. From reading many posts on
this subject it seems there is no solution, no one cares, and it isn't going
to get sorted.

I live in the Yorkshire/yorkshire region of Sky digital and many of the
channels have missing info which I have also reported.

Is there a skydigital region with a full list? I might change it to that.

Folks,

You can use xmltv to hoover the TV listings from the UK radio times site and
then use a tool called quickguide to bring the data into MCE2005.

A couple of points to note.

1. This is a hack and the initial setup can be VERY painful. Once setup
though you can create a small batch file to download the listing once every
couple of days.

2. Radio Times do not seem to do listings for Discovery Real Time Extra or
Sky Movies 10 just yet.

3. The author no longer appears to have anything to do with his utility so
support is based on other people taking the time to help out.

Have a look under the "hacks" section on the greenbutton website on how to
get this tool and deploy it.

Best Regards, Peter.
