I have downloaded the mentioned patches but I can not do a
patchadd the required patch: 112590-01 I get the following error:

You're giving the answer yourself:
"Synopsis: SunOS 5.7: Fixes..."
This is a patch for Solaris 7 and will not run on Solaris 8!

OK yes!!!! that's what I thought also but I can not get my application
to install and in the installation guide it says: (quote from user
manual)
------------------------ begin quote
Prerequisite software
Operating system
Sun Solaris 8 (32 bit)
You must install the patches listed for Sun Solaris 7, plus the
following patches or equivalent superseding levels before you install
WebSphere MQ:
– 108827–12
– 111177–06
-------------------------- end quote
it explicitly says install the patches for solaris 7 and patch
107171–02 is listed as a the first required patch...

Casper is right (but then I see he works for Sun;-)
Solaris 7 patches are never gonna work on Solaris 8!
I'd contact software supplier/vendor on this!
Good luck!

Just checking those patches and it looks like thay are Solaris 8 patches
not Solaris 7, so the doco must have a typo.
108827 is at rev 40 and has now been obsoleted by patch 108993-18(which
is now at rev 25)on the 7th Feb 2003, and this is a Solaris 8 patch.
ie:
OBSOLETE Patch-ID# 108827-40
Keywords: security libthread malloc libc libnsl libthread_db lipthread POSIX
Synopsis: Obsoleted by: 108993-18 SunOS 5.8: /usr/lib/libthread.so.1 patch
Date: Feb/07/2003
111177 was obsoleted by patch 108827-15 back on the 24th Oct 2001
which as you know from above is obsoleted by patch 108993-18
Patch 108993 is at rev 25 now.
Patch 108993-25 is included in the Recomended patch cluster for Solaris
8, so if you apply the recommended patch cluster(which you should) after
you install Solaris 8 then you do not need to add any other patches
before you install IBM WebSphere MQ.
