Pioneer A04 firmware update to 2.0?
Posted by Alan Estrada on January 23rd, 2005

I just bought a bundle of 50 DVD-Rs (Samsung Pleomax) I noticed that
it said 8x but didn't really care since I didn't know it wouldn't work
on my Pioneer A04.

I trying to burn 3 discs and non worked, then after the third try I
read all notes in the package and noticed the following:

* This DVD-R disc can be recorded by using the DVD-R Drive that
conforms to DVD specifications for Recordable Disc for General,
Version 2.0

I didn't understand that and I kept searching for more notes until I
noticed:

CAUTION:
Use this disc with certain DVD-R/RW drives or recorders which do not
support 8x recording speed may cause writing errors, failures in
retrieval of data or damage to the data previously recorded on the
disc along with the risk of damaging the drive or recorder. To solve
this problem, updating the firmware for your drive is required. You
can get support information by visiting www.dvdhs.com

of course those notes are in tiny size, so now it's too late to return
the product.

I have a pioneer A04 and I flashed my firmware to be multi-zone, so
I'm looking for an update to version 2.0 but with the same
characteristics as my previous update. is there a possibility that I
could use thise DVD-Rs just by updating the firmware? is there version
2.0 for my DVD recorder?

Please send along or post all the information that could help me,
thanks in advance.
