: Can someone explain what all the outputs are for on a DVD player.
: Why are there so many types? Every tv I have ever seen only has the
: regular 3 plugs, yellow video, red & white audio. What is S video for
: and all the others, like composite (if thats what it is called)?
:
: Is there some sort of "primer for dvd" website that explains all these
: things. Dvd seems so complicated compared to a Vcr. Yet, from what I
: see, they still cant be hooked to the computer.... dumb !!!
:
: Thanks

===========================
Better quality TVs have up to 4 (and sometimes more) different types of inputs.
Basic ones are (listed in order of quality - roughly):
1) RF - old "cable" type connector with screw-on "F" Connection.
2) Composite - yellow RCA connector
3) S-Video - quasi "din" type connector
4) RGB - Computer type connection
5) Component - Y Pb Pr RCA (several colors)
6) DVI or other newer variations.
One of my DVD players can be connected to a computer - but why?
