Like a lot of people, I was in "shock and awe" over the Columbine
shooting. What causes two kids to kill indiscriminately in their own
school? How can two kids sit in a basement and make a video tape,
knowing that last hit of JD is the last one they will ever take? What
was wrong with them? What is wrong with us? I didn't have any answers
then and I still don't now.

No one else has any answers either, but they sure want you to believe
they do. Video games didn't do it. Guns didn't do it. Marilyn Manson
didn't do it. The media was more than happy to point fingers, and the
public followed suit. Scarier than the murders themselves was the
public's reaction. "Dangerous" kids were expelled for aiming pieces of
paper or chicken-strips at another kid. The first amendment disappeared
for 6 year old kids. A kid could be removed from society for saying he's
going to kill another kid. I must have said that only about four
thousand times a week when I was in high school. What do you think
Ghyslain wants to do to the kids who released the Star Wars Kid video?
Our simple minded society seeks simple minded answers to hard questions.
We cannot point at any single thing and say "Thats why Columbine
happened". Michael Moore does not have the answers either, but he brings
up a lot of good questions.

Bowling for Columbine is a movie that will piss a lot of people off. I
can't say I agree with what appears to be Michael Moore's point. I do
not think our internal violent society can be attributed to our
countries violence in the rest of the world. Is war a contributer to
violence in the US? Probably. So is just about anything else. Moore has
an excellent arguement. Bowling is the smartest look at the deaths at
Columbine high school I've seen. It is one of the best descriptions of
all of the factors that can lead to violence in the US.

The DVD of Bowling for Columbine is unique. It isn't a traditional movie
with some extras. This is Moore's personal effort to make his voice
heard. It's a package of material putting together his views and his
arguments from a variety of different sources. There is a ton of
material on the disc. It has a 1.85 to 1 16x9 enhanced picture and a
Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack. There is a commentary with the interns and
receptionists that work for Moore rather than the director himself who
seems to get enough screentime. There is a ton of interviews, specials,
and a video of Moore describing the infamous Oscar acceptance speech.
Anyone who sees his movie understands that his Oscar speech was far from
out of character.

We live in a world where words with no meaning like "Terrorism" and
"Sniper" are used to keep us in fear. We live in a world where lies are
wrapped in political agendas by hundreds of organizations with anything
but our best interests and personal freedoms at heart. Mega-corporations
will steal any ounce of freedom we have for an extra buck. Politicians
use fear, biased public opinions, and views of a vocal minority for the
growth of their own power. Michael Moore's argument isn't a solution to
the problem. It's a different look at the problem. There are no simple
solutions to problems like this. Anyone who tells you so is lying.
Whether you agree with it or not, watch Bowling for Columbine.

Through cleaver editing I can prove any point.... I don't think Moore was
honest with a lot of the interviews in this story.

I agree with you in a sense. Especially the part about Canada since I'm in
Canada. He makes a big deal about some Canadians not locking their doors.
While it is true we might not put the dealbolt on all the time, we do close
our doors most of the time. Maybe in the summer we let the door open to let
some cool air in but Americans do the same too. I fail to see the
significant to this.
