Hi,
Is there any benefit in installing more than one antivirus/spyware/firewall
system? like Norton and Panda?
Is there any harm?
Thanks

It is contraindicated to install more than one fully install anti virus application that
performs "On Access" scanning. ou can however use numerous "On Demand" anti virus/anti
malware scanners in conjunction with a fully installed anti virus product that does both "On
Access" and "On Demand" scanning.

on 06 Jan 2007, something possessed ddcc to write:
utilities at the same time, as they may conflict with each other and/or
nullify each other's real-time scanning. Same goes for FWs. It is
general practice that only ONE software firewall be installed and
running at any one time. If you wish for more layered firewall
protection, than my suggestion would be to get and properly configure a
NAT router to block inbound requests, disable services that you don't
need, and than properly configure a software firewall (such as Kerio)
for outbound packet-filtering. Finally, there are some AVs that are
on-demand scanning only (others in this and the ACAV ng know more about
these). These can be used with on-acces real-time AV scanners since
they're not running real-time themselves (caveat emptor). In any event,
it is generally advisable to stick to one real-time AV for day-to-day
use, and one Software FW for day-to-day use. Anything else will just
bog your system down worse than some of the viruses out there would and
might actually reduce your system security.
