Is there a virus description site on the Internet.?
I found some viruses on my computer and I'm interested in knowing what
effect they had on my computer.

F-Secure's site always has good descriptions. Sophos is good
for some. And there's always Google.

Since each company tends to name a given infector differently then other vendors, you need
to go to the AV vendors library/encyclopedia.
