Free Trial of New Protection for Gaming Devices Available In Time For Summer
Recess

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Cupertino, CA - April 1, 2005 - Trend Micro, Inc. (TSE: 4704, NASDAQ: TMIC),
a leader in network antivirus and Internet gaming security software and
services, today announced the availability of Trend MicroT GameCube
Security, providing antivirus and anti-spam protection for customers using
gaming software.

Industry analysts predict that due to the rising popularity of gaming
products, these devices will become an attractive target for virus writers.
TrendLabsSM, Trend Micro's global network of antivirus research centers,
identified in 2005 a number of proof-of-concept viruses for the GameCube,
such as GCUBE_METROID.A and GCUBE_SUPER.MARIO; it is likely that further
attacks on such devices will occur in the future.

With the arrival of the school recess season, many people will be purchasing
or receiving new GameCubes as gifts. With this in mind, Trend Micro is
offering its customers a summer gift, by providing this first edition of
Trend Micro GameCube Security free of charge until June 2005.

"Many students will nag their inattentive parents for a GameCube to pass the
time before school begins again. As the number of people using GameCubes
increases, so they become more enticing targets for virus writers," said
Raimund Genes, President of GAME Operations at Trend Micro. "By offering the
first version of Trend Micro GameCube Security free of charge, Trend Micro
wishes to provide its customers and their play-centric devices a secure
summer recess."

Availability

Trend Micro GameCube Security is available immediately for all Nintendo
GameCube devices. Trend Micro GameCube Security version 1.0 expires June
2005. For product information, a complete listing of compatible devices, and

It's dated on April Fool's Day and it says they're a leader in "Internet
gaming security software." And then there's the name "Fabrique Toupe',"
which I think translates to something like "manufactured wig." I think we
can write it off as an April Fool joke. Hope this helps...

Ah, Information. A property, too valuable these days, to give it away,
just so, at no cost.
