- Warning - Norton anti virus is a virus
- Posted by Gerald Newton on March 14th, 2005
I am so tired of this software sticking the damn JavaScript in pages and
killing them that I hate it. It has plagued my system since I put it in. I
have to constantly turned it off, delete all pages, reload a page, and turn
it back on. It interferes with page development and is a genuine pain in
the ass.

Norton Antivirus is NOT a virus. If you are peeved with its
performance why don't you try many of the alternatives which are

Hey, give the guy a break eh? He's clearly had a very bad time with
Norton, so don't be so harsh on him just now. It takes time to get over
these things. We all make mistakes, you know.
Show a little Irish heartfelt understanding.

Ed, this newsgroup offers practical advice and that's exactly what I
was offering in this case. My intention was not to come across in a
harsh manner but to get straight to the point. Threads like this turn
into Norton bashing threads very quickly. Now don't get me wrong - I
don't like NAV - I haven't liked it for many years now - but I think
its best to offer practical advice as opposed to empathizing with this
highly pissed off poster.

Norton is crap ,and if people would change the surf behaviour then you would

Wrong on both accounts. Norton is not crap - it's a decent antivirus
program with some unwanted frills. This does not make it 'crap'. Also
changing your browsing habits would not rid you of the risk of virus
infection. You ignore emailborne threats, network-aware worms.... and
more!

And what specific search behaviours should be changed? Do you have any
