what is this wupdater???
Posted by Tsun Szu on January 29th, 2004

My PC seems to be running a program called wupdater. I found it when I
hit the ctrl, alt, del keys. It is running in the background. I have
already disabled or unchecked the "Automatically check for interneet
explorer updates". I am running win98se. My PC sometimes hangs when I
open about 4 sindows only. Normally in the past I could open even 6 or
7 windows and it doesn't hang. Could this wupdater be the cause of it?
I have tried to scan with my latest AVG 6.0 but it doesn't show any
virus results. Any help appreciated.

Ben

Press Ctrl-Alt-Del and search for the files you want to delete (like
wupdater.exe), highlight and then choose "end process." You'll get a warning
message but this is something built in to stop you from running programs.
After you end the processes of this adware, search for them and delete them
manually.

Here. http://www.truebluesoftware.com/docs/man/wupdate.html.

If you still feel that this file might be the cause of your trouble, try
renaming it first before you delete it.

If it don't work, hit it.
If it still doesn't work, kick it.
If it works after hitting it and kicking it, then it doesn't matter if
hitting it or kicking it helped, what's important is that it works.
