- After many deletes - folder won't open

Can you quantify "a bunch"? What are the types and sizes of the files,
and how are you deleting them? And how won't the next folder open?

A bunch would be a couple of hundred files. I can usually get through 30-50 without a degradation
The file types are almost all ASP files. Some are HTML and some are miscellaneous extensions that I made up for backup copies of ASP files
The next folder won't open either by double-clicking it, which is what I normally do to open a folder. It also doesn't work to right click with the mouse and select the open option - I don't get the menu to choose from
I am accessing the server using PCanywhere from my PC in my office at home. The server is accross town at a co-location provider.

Does this happen when standing directly at the console (not connected
via pcAnywhere)?
Do you have antivirus software running? If so, does this still happen
if it's temporarily disabled?
How often does the problem occur? Every time? 1 in 2? 1 in 5?
If you copy a bunch of other random files (like from a CD of some sort)
and then delete them, does this still happen?

It happens every time
I haven't gone to my co-location office to try it directly
I could disable the virus software and try it, but before I do I'd like to have some idea of what it would mean if that helped. Have you heard of virus software causing a problem like this
I haven't tried doing a bunch of random files. The files I'm deleting have all been put on the server using FrontPage to publish from a PC to the server. I've never tried doing the deletes through IIS - any experience with that?

Just trying to rule things out. This isn't normal, so the more factors
that can be removed, the easier it is to narrow things down. I haven't
deleted a lot of things via the IIS Manager, but I still don't think it
should matter. A couple hundred files isn't a lot to me; I've deleted
tens of thousands at a time with no issue.

I'll be over near the co-location office tomorrow so I'll drop in and do a bunch of deletes directly.
That will show if PCanywhere is what causes the degradation. I'll let you know. Thanks for being willing to help.
