Cant delete old dos program Sharing violation
Posted by Loren Leader on January 10th, 2004

Does anyone know how to delete a file that says it can not
be deleted becuse of a sharing violation. I put a dos zip
file on my computer and now I cant delete it. I then
copied it to another folder and I cant delete it from
there either. So I put on an old copy of xtree on to try
and now I cant delete that program either. They all say
sharing violation. what gives.???

Usually you can make another folder and place the one in
question into it, and then delete that folder. Make sure you
take ownership and administrative Rights. If the doesn't
work, Try NT command line to copy the boot.ini over the file
in question. And then delete it.
Hope it helps,
don

Boot up in Safe Mode, then delete the files.
