Hello there. I have 2 win 2k pc's both with Service pack 4.
One one pc, here's how I hide the desktop icons . . .

Right click on an empty portion of the desktop -- a menu
will appear ,Click on Active Desktop

Click on Show Desktop Icons (to uncheck this item).

Voila!

On another pc, when I click on "Active desktop", the only
choices are 1. customize my desktop 2. show web content 3.
new desktop.

Any ideas?

Click "Show Web Content", and it will enable the other
menu.
