Sounds like you are infected with some type of worm... Try downloading and running stinger: http://us.mcafee.com/virusInfo/default.asp?id=stinge
Also, if you have a worm... then you should do 2 things...
1. Go to Windows Update and install patches to your compute
2. Install a software firewall or purchase a hardware type of firewall from Linksys, etc. to protect your system
If you clean your computer and don't patch and install a firewall of some type, you will just be wide open to another infection

I have this problem too, a current Norton AV and at least
weekly system scans. welchia removal tool does not find
welchia on my computer...
SystemIdleProcess is the CPU usage hog...is it necessary,
and why ELSE would it chew up 100% of CPU?
win2kpro upgrade from win98SE, p4, 2.4

From what I can remember, I had a simular occurance when I
had an all in one HP printer/fax/copier installed, make
sure you have the latest SP4 installed there is a fix for
that, and install it anyway if you do not.
I hope this helps

SystemIdleProcess is the process that runs when there is nothing else
to run. If it runs at 99%, it **only** means that only 1% of the
processor is being used. It is not a usage hog at all! If you use the
processor at 33% it will drop to 67%.
Your slowness problems are elsewhere. I'd look at DNS is you are on a
network. If you've had problems with viruses, I'd get some clean disks
and load NAV on them for a standalone check (preferably from another
machine). Some viruses stop NAV working properly.
Cheers,
Cliff
