- Delete Key and copy & Paste Problems
- Posted by Lindah on September 4th, 2003
Ever since I've had Office XP installed on my Windows 2000
operating system - the delete key will not work in MS Word.
I've had to use the "Y" key to delete, and it leaves a
small y keystroke behind. So that is then backspaced for
removal.
Also I cannot import any image into MS Word from a file
area. The image area arrives with black handles around
and the formating option is disabled as well. So I end up
with a clearly defined space where the image should be.
But no image at all.
Images from the Clipboard go on fine as a copy and paste
exercise in MS Word.
I would appreciate some helpful tips on this problem. I
have been using a computer for over four years.
Thank you in advance

How long have you been using MS Office???
The "Y" key is a letter... has both upper and lowercase forms, like Y and y. :-)
(just a little bit of humor, nothing derogatory intended)...
If you are referring to the Ctrl-Y function, that is to redo a previous under
operation. So if you delete some text, you press Ctrl-Z to under the deletion,
and Ctrl-Y to redo it yet again....
How are you importing? Are you going up to the Insert menu, selecting Picture,
and selecting "From File"?? If so, perhaps your image import filters are
corrupted or even missing. You might get your Office XP cd out and perform a
repair on the installation. It'll restore any missing files or settings....
