- disk cleanup cause 100% CPU utilization

Every time I try to run Disk Cleanup on one particular
system, the CPU utilization goes to 100% and stays there
and the process never gets beyond "compress old files"
(I'm talking running it over night!)
Any ideas what's going on?

It says Windows XP but works for Win2K also
