Font's won't reinstall
Posted by Bill on February 19th, 2004

I have a Windows 2000 Professional machine. I used System
mechanic and removed some registry entries and thew font's
went away. I tried to reinstall from the cd and the winnt
fonts directory but they won't save. I have ran a virus
scan and it is clean. It's impossible to read like the
general tab on the properties window of my computer
because the fonts are garbage characters.

Help!

Hi Bill-

You could try running the System File Checker utility (sfc.exe). Read more
here: http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;222471

You could also try doing a repair of your OS installation by booting off
your installation cd.

I am having the same problem. Cannot read any of my emails, cannot use most of my programs because the fonts have all been changed to symbols. Can copy fonts from my back up to fonts folder in Control Panel, but everytime I reboot fonts disappear again. Actually, I do not even have to reboot. Fonts seem to disppear overnight.

Did you ever figure out how to fix the problem?
