Forgot My Admin Password, Do Have to Re-install
Posted by Mike on September 12th, 2003

I installed 2000 pro on my home computer a couple of years
ago. At the time the isp I had didn't work well with 2000,
so during set up I went ahead and partitioned my c drive
and set my system up for a dual boot, 2000pro/ME and just
kept using ME. I only used 2000 pro while I was studying
for my A+. Well that was quite a while ago and since then
I have seldom used 2000pro, as a result, dummy here forgot
his administrators password. I didn't set up any other
accounts either so now, of course, I can't even logon in
2000. Booting to the c drive and Windows Me's no help
either since it's FAT32 it doesn't even see the ntsf
logical drive so, no access to my D drive or any of the
files I've kept on it . I'd rather not have to re-install
2000pro if at all possible however, I do need to use my
2000 pro again realy badly! Is there any way I can log
back on , besides re-installing it, or if reinstall's the
only way, is there any way I can at least save my files
that are on the ntsf logical drive? Any help here would be
greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Mike.

Asked and aswered daily - check existing posts with
"password" or "forg" (for "forget") in the Subject line.

About your valuable files: There are two groups of people -
those who back them up weekly, and those who do not
do it just yet. It seems you just had a stern warning.
You might not be so lucky next time.
