Inaccessible _Boot Device Message
Posted by Pele on February 12th, 2004

I have a computer with WIndows 2000 loaded on it and about
2 months ago, I turned it on and you can see Windows 2000
start to load BUT then it suddenly stops and a BLUE screen
shows up with a message like

Stop:0X0000007B.

A text message below this then mentions that my computer
has a virus. The last line of the text says
Inaccessible_Boot_Device.

I have restarted the computer a few times to no avail.

Does anybody have any advice for me.

May be a hard drive problem. Take the drive out and run scan on it from
another machine or boot off of a boot disk and check the drive.

Did you change any hardware like a motherboard?
