- Just got blaster virus from SP4 download

I just downloaded the service pack 4 from Microsoft
Website when it finished installing PCcillin popped up
and said I just got the Blaster Virus!!!!
What Now?
I'm obviously going to reformat again but I cant use the
Win2kPro now.....
Not happy MS...

When the installation for a Service Pack starts, it says shut down your antivirus software. Many people don't read this or heed
this. Is the virus a running process in the task manager?

The blaster virus does NOT come via downloaded files -
it comes in via one of the many infected machines that
are connected to the Internet, and it attacks your
machine if it is unpatched.
If you had turned on your PC-Cillin firewall then you
would have been safe.

I never turn off my virus software - actually can't since IT installed a password. I have never recieved
a virus warning from any windows update - and I download all as soon as they are downloadable.
I agree with another poster - likely he turned off his firewall too and has shared drives...
